  • Basketball Jerseys – Show The World Which Team You Love

Jul 23, 2010 Author: Mark Parkins | Filed under: Recreation & Sports

Basketball jerseys are used by basketball players to represent their teams. They are also worn by fans to represent their affection for a specific team or team player. Teenagers favor this type of apparel and proudly wear their jerseys with their blue jeans to show team pride and player support.

These jerseys are usually around one hundred dollars. This is because the manufacturers of the jersey have to pay for the licensing rights, which is a hefty fee.

Sporting goods stores are a great place to purchase jerseys but are probably the most expensive place to purchase them. There are online auction sites that list them amongst their sale items this may be a less expensive option. Basketball jerseys can also be found in some department stores. Due to their popularity if a player is very popular finding the jersey with his number may be virtually impossible.

Popular players and teams sell out very quickly which drives the price up in other markets like the online auction sites. There are people that get on waiting lists for the popular ones to show back up in the stores again. Finding them on sale is rare and when it does happen it is usually for the less popular teams.

There are some discount websites that specialize in cheaper jerseys. Simply searching online may save up to fifty dollars. Of course shopping online is also much more convenient and the delivery comes right to the front door. Finding them online can also help with price comparisons.

Basketball jerseys are a great way to show team support and announce to the world a favorite player. They are more than sports fans apparel — they are used for casual wear as well. Shopping wisely and doing price comparisons is the best way to shop for them and make sure buying one does not break the bank.

Donning the same colors and numbers as your favorite players is the best way to show you’re proud of your favorite team. Getting basketball jerseys made to look the same way as your favorite players’ jerseys makes any fan beam with pride.

  • Fun, Friends, And Collecting Model Scale Cars

Jul 22, 2010 Author: Adriana Noton | Filed under: Recreation & Sports

When it comes to hobbyists, some folks may never be quite as fanatical as automobile enthusiast. Cars are such a deeply valued aspect of modern culture that entire genres of community have grown up around them. One such group is collecting model scale cars.

These cars are exactly what they sound like, scaled won versions of their real world counterparts. The sizes do vary, but the craftsmanship in this little wonders is astounding in many cases. They have doors that open and close, working lights, beeping horns, and even engines that can run! It is no wonder they are so fascinating to some.

If you, or someone you love, are into this hobby, what are some ways to expand it to even higher levels of enjoyment? The fist idea is to share the hobby with others. Perhaps you can take up digital photography as a means to posting your treasures online for all to see. You could stage all kinds of interesting scenes, road races and the like, and post them on you web site or blog for your fans.

Creating clubs for like minded individuals is always fun to do. Run some simple ads in the appropriate newspapers and simply set up a time to sit around and talk shop! You can work on the model cars together, give each other pointers and tips, and basically just show off your great collections.

Speaking of showing off, how about shows for enthusiasts? Like regular car shows, you can have judging for prizes, like best custom, best restoration, best paint, best detailing, and the list goes on. This would be a great and fun way to take the cars out on the road, from town to town. Best of all, you can do it in less space than a full sized sedan would take up!

Thinking about sharing tips and pointers, you could design an e-zine or a nice little mailer with these items in it. If it became popular enough you could sell subscriptions. Everybody likes a little bit of help now and then, and a newsletter is always welcome news to a hobbyist. You can also use them for advertising collectibles for sale and trade, and for promoting the latest shows and club meetings.

A very nice thing to do with your collection is to create a nice way to display them. Quality display cases, with glass fronts and interior lights and such, can be a beautiful addition to any home. If you are handy with building as well as with your cars, you could build and sell them to others at the shows, in the paper, and so forth. Every labor of love could use a good display station.

All of these ideas can overlap and help support each other. With the tools available today, you can be a veritable one person show when collecting model scale cars. Get together with your car buddies, show off and share, get some good work done, enjoy the special camaraderie that occurs between kindred spirits, and display proudly what you enjoy most.

  • Jets’ Sanchez Hopes To Play Despite Knee Pain

Jul 22, 2010 Author: Ross Everett | Filed under: Recreation & Sports

New York Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez has been a crucial factor in the teams 2-0 start, showing a poise and head for the game very rare for NFL newcomers. Still, there wasn’t much worry at the revelation that hes suffering from tendinitis in his right knee. The Jets announced Sanchez’s injury on Thursday, and hes listed as probable on the official NFL injury report. Based on comments from the quarterback and team officials, the prognosis sounds more optimistic than that.

Sanchez practiced on Thursday, and though he was seen stopping to stretch and rub his right knee on a few occasions didn’t seem to suffer any impairment in his mobility. He participated in the entire practice, and there didnt appear to be any sort of effort to prepare Kellen Clemens to assume the starting role. Clemens, who served as Brett Favre’s backup during his time with the Jets, didn’t get any additional reps with the starting offense that would have indicated a concern about Sanchez’s health.

In his comments to the media, Jets head coach Rex Ryan confirmed the injury while downplaying its significance:

“It’s not that big a deal. He has something. I don’t know how to describe it than just to say its a little tendinitis. But, he’s fine. I mean, he fully participated and moved around great, I thought.”

Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer was even more emphatic in his statement:

    “Mark’s totally fine.”

Ryan then added a sarcastic note that brought laughs from the assembled media: “Make sure he’s on that list. I don’t mean anything by that.”

Ryan was referring to the Jets receiving a fine from the NFL for not properly disclosing injuries to then-QB Brett Favre late last season. Favre was suffering from a torn biceps tendon, though the team didnt list him on the official NFL injury report. The team was fined $75,000 while GM Mike Tannenbaum and former coach Eric Mangini were each fined $25,000 each.

The Jets are less optimistic about the condition of cornerback Donald Strickland, who is suffering from a sprained right ankle. Ryan didnt offer much positive indication that hed be able to see action on Sunday:

“I don’t think he’s going to be able to play this week. I’m not declaring him out right now, but I don’t think there’s any way he’s playing this week.”

The Jets host the Tennessee Titans at the Meadowlands this Sunday afternoon. After that, the Jets will take to the road for their next two games. Theyll play the New Orleans Saints on October 4th before heading to south Florida to take on the Miami Dolphins the following Monday night.

  • Riders Fend Off Ti-Cats Comeback To Win In CFL Action

Jul 22, 2010 Author: Ross Everett | Filed under: Recreation & Sports

It was just a week ago that the Saskatchewan Roughriders blew a 22-0 first half CFL lead to the Edmonton Eskimos en route to a 38-33 loss. On Sunday afternoon, it looked for a moment like history was repeating itself. The Hamilton Tiger Cats would tie the score at 23-23 early in the fourth quarter before the hosts pulled it out with a late touchdown and field goal to win 33-23.

After the game, Roughriders coach Ken Miller talked about the importance of pulling out the win:

“We didn’t want to do that again, “In the first half in particular it was sensational. In the third quarter we gave up some points … but overall our defence played pretty good.”

Hamilton head coach Marcel Bellefeuille said there was no moral victory in falling short after a big comeback:

“You’ve got to play 60 minutes to win in the CFL, you can’t play 30 minutes.”

An important component of the Roughriders victory was their improved rushing attack. Saskatchewan ran for 214 yards, with Wes Cates becoming the first Roughrider to rush for more than 100 yards this season as he finished with 117. After the game, Cates spoke of his accomplishment:

“It was not as much for myself but more for the naysayers. Yeah I needed a big game like that to stop the rumours and stop people from talking bad about me.”

Saskatchewans defensive line also starred, completely shutting down the Hamilton rushing attack. The Roughriders limited the Tiger-Cats runners to a mere 31 yards on the ground.

Kevin Glenn replaced Hamilton starting QB Quinton Porter after the first quarter and finished the game 12-for-27 with 183 yards. Porter was 1-for-5 for only three yards before he was yanked.

The Tiger-Cats now have a bye week before they return to action August 29th on the road against the Edmonton Eskimos. Saskatchewan will head east to take on the CFL best Montreal Alouettes on Friday night.

  • Packers Shut Out Lowly Lions

Jul 22, 2010 Author: Ross Everett | Filed under: Recreation & Sports

The Green Bay Packers didn’t do a good job protecting their quarterback last Sunday, but against the lowly Detroit Lions it didn’t really matter. Packers’ QB Aaron Rodgers was sacked five times, but Green Bay used a big first half offensive outburst to coast to a 26-0 NFL victory over the Detroit Lions. Rodgers threw two first half touchdown passes which was complimented by four Mason Crosby field goals as Green Bay improved to 3-2 on the season. The Lions slumped to 1-5 with the loss.

NFL football betting enthusiasts who backed the Packers as -14 home dogs easily cashed their tickets with Green Bay’s third pointspread cover in five games. Detroit slipped to 2-4 against the spread.

In the victory, Packers’ receiver Donald Driver passed Sterling Sharpe for first place on the franchise reception list. Sharpe finished his career with 596 receptions, Driver now has 602. After the game, he talked about the accomplishment:

“It couldn’t it come in a better place — at home in front of the fans I’ve played in front of for so many years. It feels good. Now I just have to wait on Sterling to call me and congratulate me.”

Despite the convincing victory, cornerback Tramon Williams wasn’t happy with the relatively narrow margin:

“It feels like a 50 to zero game, but we didn’t quite get there. I felt we should’ve put more points on the board.”

For the Lions, their quarterback woes continued. Matthew Stafford is already out indefinitely with an injured knee, and against Green Bay backup Daunte Cullpepper injured his hamstring in the third quarter and was replaced by the Lions’ third string quarterback Drew Stanton. Cullpepper is now listed as ‘questionable’ on the official NFL injury report. After the game, he talked about Detroit’s lack of offense:

“It’s very disappointing, very frustrating. It’s embarrassing to me not to be able to move it on the field and get points on the board. We’ve got to figure out a way to do that, simple as that.”

The Packers will play on the road this Sunday, heading to Cleveland to face the Browns. Green Bay will host the Minnesota Vikings the following Sunday followed by a trip to Tampa Bay on November 8. Detroit has a bye this weekend and will return to action as they host the St. Louis Rams on November 1. They’ll play their next two on the road, with games in Seattle and Minnesota.
