The information your need for your life!
Finland is a country that I had always wanted to visit, and when some long time friends invited me over to Hotellit Oulu , I finally had a good enough reason to come over. I still needed a place to stay however, and my main concern was how to find suitable accommodations at such short notice and on a decidedly slim budget. One of the first hotels I set my sights on was Hotel Vihiluoto, and although I was prepared to give up a few luxuries I was accustomed to in the name of a good deal, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Hotel Vihiluoto was actually one of the best places I could have stayed in for the price.
Right off the bat, I knew that Hotel Vihiluoto was a great choice since, aside from being relatively inexpensive, it was located quite close to the airport. At only 4 km. away from the airport, I was walking into the foyer after a short 5-minute ride in the provided taxi pick up service. Make sure that you ask for this service when you book your room, as it can definitely make things a lot easier for you if you are coming in on the late flight as I did.
When I got to the hotel, I was pleased to see that it was situated in an area close to the sea, surrounded by lush vegetation and stunning views of picturesque Kempeleenlahti Bay. This makes the hotel ideally suited for a host of outdoor activities all year ’round. I was in town strictly for business of course, but this is something I definitely want to check out in the future when I have a bit more time to spare. Of particular interest is a visit to the rental cabin located in the scenic town of Ruka, which the hotel will gladly arrange for you.
One of the reasons I chose to stay at Hotel Vihiluoto is the price, and I certainly wasn’t disappointed. I came in during the middle of the week and only had to pay EUR 95 for a single room. Double rooms cost EUR 105, with the option to add an extra bed for EUR 25. Not bad for such tastefully appointed accommodations! Junior rooms are also available at EUR 55. Weekend prices are slightly higher of course, but it definitely won’t put a huge dent on your budget.
I actually ate most of my hotels in the city, but I did have a chance to have dinner at the hotel’s charming restaurant for a couple of nights. Along with the sumptuous breakfast that comes with the room, I am confident in saying that the food at Hotel Vihiluoto was generally pretty good. And with a respectable selection of sushi-which is a personal favorite of mine-I had to say that my food cravings were well sated.
Evenings are for lounging around at the hotel’s cozy Lappish hut, which is sizable enough to accommodate up to 30 people. With the great food that the hotel provides, this is definitely a good place to cap the evening at this charming hotel.
