If you have an extra room in your home and you want to turn it into a workout room then now is the time to get started. You can create a work out room that will inspire you to be healthy and feel better.

If your work out room has an area looking towards the outside, maybe looking out over a patio or balcony area, this is the side where you want to place a stationary bike or a treadmill or a stair machine. This way as you are working out or running or biking, you can imagine yourself outside running or biking. Looking out at nature can keep you motivated towards your goal, whether that goal is just to tone up and beef up your body or a combination of that along with weight loss.

You may want a wall with mirrors so that you can watch your movements as you stretch out before you take your run or ride your bike. If your workout room doesn’t have carpet, place an area rug somewhere in the room so that you have a soft place to do floor exercises. A rectangular or square rug will help to add extra cushion for your exercise mat or your exercise ball as you are doing your floor exercises. Since this is your work out room, get a rug in the color or size and shape that will inspire you to continue on your way to a healthier you.

Another area in your room should have racks for hanging towels, storing dumbbells out of the way, and weights. You also want to keep a small compact refrigerator in one area for bottled water. You also need some music to exercise by. And don’t forget the set of scales used to weigh your self once a week.

Remember that you want this room strictly for working out. This will help you create the new you. The time you spend in this room will be anywhere from thirty minutes to one hour every day, seven days a week. You are going to need some inspiration hanging on the wall. Place your goal, whether it be dress, a vacation, a class reunion, etc., on the wall so you will be able to see your goal everyday and it will be inspiring.

A chart and a calendar are also good items to have available to help you keep track of your progress as you work towards that goal. A dry erase board that can be made into a calendar and a chart, so that you can erase and change the dates or keep a count down going, is an awesome way to keep things in perspective.

No matter how you choose to decorate your workout room, make sure you include a soft rug on the floor and use all the natural lighting available. Make the space comfortable and inviting and you will reach your fitness goals in no time at all.
