Work Of Art Involved In Painting Portrait

Oct 22, 2009 Author: Connor Sullivan | Filed under: Home & Family

It requires many years for an artist to hone the skills of perfectly painting portraits. Thus, portrait painting is a combination of skill and talent that entails enormous amount of technicality and experience in terms of painting by a portrait artist. This art can be perfect only if the painter can effectively set up the character of the person on the canvas.

Generally, those who want to get their portrait done; they wish it to be painted in their preferred manner so that it can bring out their image to the public with the help of such painting. Taking look at some of the famous portraits, you will find that the painting represents the true character of the person. If the person were a warrior, the painting represents him in that way wearing complete warrior dress and sitting over a horse. Similarly, if the person was an intellectual, the painting shows him sitting ideally in a library, encircled by books. This means that the main focus of an artist must be to bring out the real self of the subject whose portrait is to be made on the canvas. The portrait must be capable of bringing out the smallest details of the person on the canvas. It should come into sight as the person in the painting is exactly the same as he or she looks in the real life.

These days, this painting style has become very famous and generated lots of respect among the art lovers. Thus, numerous people want to have their own portraits. Things were different earlier, as only the ruling class or the rulers could pay for such luxury and wishes, but now anybody can have his/her painting done at affordable price.

There is neither any particular set of rule for developing such exclusive art nor that there is any secret or shortcut to achieve perfection. Experience of the artist is the major factor that can make his or her art perfect. Though, there are some important tips that need to be followed while developing such form of art.

Getting the background of the painting right is one of the major factors make the work perfect. It is to be understood that the main focus must remain on the subject that is the person whose painting is being made and not the background. Background is only to be used for supporting the subject so that the viewer does not get distracted.

The artist must not begin the portrait right away from the start. Rather the artist must make some sketches of the subject first. With close surveillance, the painter can cautiously make drawing of that person by considering all the details of his features. It requires lots of endurance of both the artist and the individual and then only the final outcome can come out as perfect.

Connor R. Sullivan has been searching for the perfect portrait artist to paint an oil painting of his children. He plans to give his portrait painting to his wife as a birthday gift.

Messages and Music On Hold – Make the “Combo” Work for You

Oct 22, 2009 Author: Tim Holdon | Filed under: Business

Music and messages on hold can be a tricky thing. Let me share some thoughts with you on how to make the combo work for you.

I just got off the phone with a graphic designer who is working on a website and logo design project for me. Of course I’m trying to get the concepts and images in my mind to his mind. We were talking about not only this specific project and our attempts to communicate with each other but also that process generally of one person trying to communicate something subjective to another person. Just before he hung up, he made an insightful statement: “You can talk about the technical specifics forever and never get there; sometimes you just have to see it or hear it and say, “Yeah, that’s it!”

The previous post of this blog considered the fact that the world is made up of what we might call “thinkers” and “feelers” and virtually all people are really some mix of both. No matter what the communication medium from email to radio advertising to messages and music on hold, you can enhance its effectiveness by keeping that “combo” idea of thinking and feeling in mind. An average sampling of customers calling your phone system will include some people who want you to “bottom line it” for them and others who want you to tell them stories and paint pictures. It might be safe to assume that some combination of the two approaches is generally a good strategy. As I said in an earlier post, “people do business with people”. Customers need to feel they can trust you and they relate to you on some level. If everything else is equal between you and your competition, you’ll win the day if your customers are more comfortable with who you are as a person – or who your people are as people.

Being “nice” or likeable is not the point, however. You must be perceived as an expert. Moreover, you must really be an expert, and you must give your customers the specific information and answers they need. The trick is finding a way to communicate your expertise in an appealing and relevant way. Your customers must know that not only are you a competent professional, you also hear them as people and understand their situation, issues, needs, and objectives. It’s basic, “customer service 101″, and it applies to your messages and music on hold as much as any other area of your communications.

Get Rid of Debt – Consolidate Bills

Oct 22, 2009 Author: Thomas Erikson | Filed under: Finance

If you consolidate bills, it provides you with a way to finally control your debt and finances. Tired of dealing with the mountain of debt and the amount if costs you? Well consolidating your debt may help you to achieve the financial freedom you want.

Constantly robbing one bill to pay another can end up turning into the norm when you are overwhelmed with debt. Debt consolidation is a strategy that can help you to reverse the financial problems and get you back on track. When you consolidate your bills into one loan that has a low interest rate, it provides you with debt relief. You can have a lower monthly payment, have more money to take care of other needs, and also can pay down the amount of debt you have.

There are a few things that you need to keep in mind if you plan to consolidate bills to help improve your finances. When you decide to consolidate bills, you will want to take the time to look around closely to find a loan that has low fees and good interest rates. You want to make sure you improve your finances and the squeeze caused by all that debt so that you can have more financial freedom and pay off those bills.

You need to be clear about the purpose you have when you consolidate bills. Do you want to improve your lifestyle by removing all the debt that you have and improving your cash flow? Maybe you want to use the extra savings to eliminate your debt even faster. No matter what the purpose is, you can use debt consolidation to keep from accruing more debt. Of course it is quite easy to start using credit cards when you can’t pay off your other bills. It is also easy to start purchasing needed items with your credit cards too, adding more debt.

If you happen to own a home and have enough equity, you can get the lowest interest rates going with home equity loans. Of course if you have other expenses that may be coming up in the future, then going with a home equity line of credit can be a better option for you. This lets you reduce the amount you pay each month because of the low interest rates and you can still have a credit line that you can use if you absolutely have to.

Discipline is necessary in order to avoid getting overwhelmed by debt again, but if you have the commitment and discipline necessary to only use what you have to, a home equity line of credit can be a flexible way to turn around a trend toward rising debt as well as leave a margin for borrowing for important upcoming reasons.

Personal loans are an option, but the interest rates are higher than going with a home equity line of credit or a home equity loan. Of course when you need to consolidate bills, you may find it your only option. You don’t need collateral and it can help you to improve your credit history. If you have a fairly good credit history and enough money to pay, it’s fairly easy to get these loans.

The more risk you have as a borrower, the more you can expect to pay in interest rates on loans you take out. For example, if you have a bad credit history, you’ll pay more in interest when you take out a loan.

Although it is becoming increasingly common to consolidate bills using a low rate credit card, it is probably not a good idea to do so if your purpose is to turn around your mounting debt. A credit card can be flexible and a low rate card with reasonable annual fees will likely cost you a lot less than you are paying now if you are juggling multiple card payments. However, you know what those card companies are like! They will increase your limit and if you are like most people, you will spend up to it. Do you want to take that risk?

These options are only a few that are available to you to help consolidate bills. Other options are available. You should research the options that you have before you decide on going with one product. Also make sure that you read any fine print before you sign anything.

Debt consolidation has the power to transform your life financially, but only if you consolidate bills wisely. Find out how to get 4 free quotes from nationally recognized lenders for a debt consolidation loan that will help you stabilize your finances. Find out how much you can save today.

How To Use Natural Laxatives For Constipation

Oct 22, 2009 Author: Keith M. Henry | Filed under: Health & Fitness

Constipation has become so widespread that many constipation remedies have become very popular. Those suffering from chronic constipation suffer from symptopms such as abdominal bloating, hard stools, headaches, and a host of other symptoms

Dr. Linda Berry, chiropractor and clinical nutritionist, provides a sobering perusal of the symptoms of self-poisoning from a congested colon saying, “If you experience any of the following symptoms, you may be experiencing autointoxication (a process whereby you are poisoned by substances produced by your own body as a result of inadequate digestion and elimination), and therefore you might want to consider some type of internal cleansing program.Common symptoms resulting from accumulated toxins in the bowel can result in the following conditions:

Depression, Allergy Symptoms, Frequent headaches, Bad Breath , PMS, Fatigue, Ulcerative Colitis and colon cancer, Insomnia, Irritability, Frequent Gas and Bloating , Frequent and/or alternating bouts with constipation and diarrhea , Frequent Infections , Excess weight, Impaired digestion Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Parasite infestation , Hemorrhoids , Frequent colds and a Protruding belly.

Causes

The reason for this distressing condition can be attributed to a number of factors including chronic dehydration, chronic stress, certain medications, unhealthy diet, lack of fiber, lack of physical exercise, dehydration and particular sicknesses among other things. Interestingly according to the Vegetarian Times(March,1998) autopsies “oftentimes disclose colons that are plugged up to 80 percent with waste material”. The final consequence of this is the toxic state of the entire organization, and the ending consequence, if not corrected is disease… and at length death.

Constipation Remedies

Dealing with the irritating side effects of constipation typically necessitates a aggregated plan of attack which normally includes one of several constipation remedies. Constipation remedies are commonly categorized as hydrating, bulk-forming, lubricant, emollient, osmotic, or stimulant.

Constipation remedies can range from at-home “recipes” that people have used for centuries, to contemporary chemical laxatives. Natural and non-invasive constipation remedies can be very useful, contingent on your plan of attack. For example amongst the effective home constipation remedies is flax seed.

Combined with apple cider vinegar, flaxseed is one of many drug-free constipation remedies. The reason it is so effctive is that it utilizes essential fatty acids that help lubricate the colon and promote appropriate bowel function.

A great constipation remedy is made by of boiling 2 cups of water with 2 tablespoons of flaxseed for 10-15 minutes. Once you strain the flaxseed from the boiled mixture, you have a gelatinous substance, which should be consumed on an empty stomach.

A teaspoonful of apple cider vinegar can be added to step up the remedy’s effectiveness. This mixture can be consumed on a day-to-day basis until systematic bowel movements are experienced.

A different alternative is to eat three or four tablespoonfuls of ground flaxseed each day by blending it into a smoothie, putting it on salads or adding it to other dishes.

There are also several herbs that work exceptionally well as constipation remedies to clean the bowel, but also to feed and reconstruct it, as well as other organs such as the gallbladder; specified herbs include casagrada sagrada, senna, and rhubarb amongst others.

The Creator has given us many very effective constipation remedies and we’d do well to use them to our advantage. The old adage is true, and we should take it seriously”Death Begins in the Colon”.

Constipation issues? Try Eden Cleanse. It is among the best herbal constipation remedies on the market. And unlike other constipation remedies it is all natural.

UFC 88 Flashback: Evans Dominates ‘The Iceman’

Oct 22, 2009 Author: Ross Everett | Filed under: Recreation & Sports

Rashad Evans was fighting for respect. He didnt scream about demanding respect in his prefight interviews because hes smart enough to know that respect must be earned. He earned it and then some with a devastating 2nd round TKO of Chuck Liddell in the main event of UFC 88: Breakthrough.

If Evans needed any more validation of how little respect he was getting, he could have taken a look at the UFCs text message prediction poll of the main event which favored The Iceman by a whopping 81% to 19% margin. Or he could have listened to the UFC announcers, who had all but penciled Liddell in for a return to light heavyweight title contention after his inevitable victory. Still, Evans never whined about being disrespected as is commonplace among professional athletes in the stick and ball sports. He let his fists do the talking and with a perfectly placed overhand right will likely never have to worry about a lack of respect again.

From the opening horn, Evans showed no fear of Liddells once legendary power. Instead, he danced and moved (which was dumbly criticized as showboating by the UFC announce team), using his slick footwork and speed to dart in and out of range of Liddells punches. In the process, he was able to use his superior handspeed to get off first. His punches werent exactly highlight reel power shots at this point, but were nonetheless effective as evidenced by a cut opened under Liddells eye. For his part, Liddell scored with a few shots of his own, but was clearly frustrated by the evasiveness of his opponent.

Evans highlight reel power shot was to come in the 2nd round. Liddell backed Evans up near the cage wall and went to throw an uppercut. Simultaneously, Evans responded with an overhand right that landed quicker, harder and more accurately. The perfectly placed punch knocked Liddell out cold. Evans’ KO was one of the most devastating in the history of the sport, and made all the more so by the status of the man on the receiving end.

Rashad Evans raised his record to 17-0-1, with the lone blemish a draw against Tito Ortiz at UFC 73. Liddell, meanwhile, saw his record drop to 21-6″with three of those six losses coming in his last 4 fights.

Liddells loss notwithstanding, it was a good night for UFC veterans as Rich Franklin and Dan Henderson won their fights in impressive fashion. Franklin looked particularly sharp in dismantling tough Matt Hamill, eventually prevailing by 3rd round TKO. Hamill had trouble getting inside for the takedown he needed to compete in the bout, and every time he closed the distance he was met with a barrage of Franklin punches and kicks.

This was the UFCs first trip to Atlanta and despite a good attendance the crowd itself was somewhat disappointing. In a marked contrast to the knowledgeable and enthusiastic fans at the Target Center in Minneapolis for UFC 87″arguably the best MMA crowd ever at a US venue”the live crowd at Phillips Arena often acted as if they were at a taping of Georgia Championship Wrestling. Every foreign fighter was booed mercilessly”including South Korean Kim. Perhaps the audience didnt realize that South Korea has been a US ally since its establishment after WW II.

More problematic was the crowds utter lack of respect for the fighters postfight. Poor Dong Hyun Kim was booed during his postfight interview like he was Professor Toru Takana cutting a heel promo on Mr. Wrestling 2 after winning the Georgia Heavyweight Title by throwing salt in his opponents eyes while the referee was distracted. Not quite the respect that a 4th degree judo black belt whod just won a very tough fight deserves. Even Rashad Evans was booed after his dominating KO victory.

Photography and Camera Vocabulary Explained Part Two

Oct 22, 2009 Author: Tobias Sterling | Filed under: Arts & Entertainment

One of the most confusing things about photography for amateurs and beginners is the abundance of technical terms. Read on for more explanations of some of the most common and useful terms.

Aperture

All cameras have a diaphragm inside them that can change size to admit more or less light. This is very similar to how the human eye works ” a circular opening that changes size depending on light levels.

For many, the most confusing part about aperture is the nomenclature used. This is quoted in what are commonly referred to as ‘f-stops’. To better explain, a smaller f-stop number such as f/1.8 means the aperture will open wider while a larger f-stop number such as f/22 means the aperture will open very slightly.

Unless it is an SLR, your camera will have a range of available f-stops, for example f/2.8-f/8. This means that the widest the aperture can open is f/2.8 and the narrowest, f/8.

Sensor

When you press the button to take a photo, the camera contains a light-sensitive panel that records the light hitting it at the time. This function in a digital camera performs the same function as film does in a film camera. This sensor is hidden behind the shutter (see below) and is not exposed until the button is pressed. Light is recorded by the sensor when a photo is taken and stored on a memory card.

Shutter Speed

A cameras shutter sits just in front of the image sensor. It is normally closed so that no light is getting through to the sensor, but when you press the button, it opens for a certain length of time to expose the sensor to light.

Most shutters are actually comprised of two curtains. At a fast shutter speed, the first curtain opens only a tiny gap between it and the second curtain, and travels across the sensor with the second curtain following close behind. For longer exposures the whole sensor might be exposed for a period of time before the second curtain closes it.

The shutter speed of cameras is referred to in whole and fractions of seconds. For instance a camera with a shutter speed of 1/640 means the shutter will open and the sensor be exposed to light for only one-six-hundred-and-fortieth of a second.

Exposure

Exposure is so named because it refers to exposing the sensor or film to light in order to take a photograph. An exposure is also another name for a photograph for this reason.

As a photograph is taken, how much light reaches the light-sensitive sensor is determined by aperture and shutter speed. If a darker photo is desired, a slower shutter speed and larger aperture or combination of both may be required for a quality photograph.

The term ‘correct exposure’ refers to the approximation of what a photographer actually saw with his/her naked eye at the time the photo was taken. This is purely a matter of a taste. However, it is entirely possible to take a photo at night or in the dark with such long shutter speed that it actually appears as if it was taken in the daylight.

Tobias Sterling has been in love with photography for many years. He loves to write and share his knowledge with fellow enthusiast on Clivir.com where you can find his lessons including Beginners Photography Basics and Black and White Photography Tips.
